Effect of viscosity and heterogeneity on dispersion in porous media during miscible flooding processes

In this paper, a mathematical model has been developed to quantitatively examine the effect of viscosity and heterogeneity on dispersion in porous media at pore scale during miscible flooding processes. More specifically, Navier-Stokes equation advection-diffusion are coupled with supplementary equations describe solvent transport behaviour. Two-dimensional heterogeneous models numerically as function porosity permeability, assuming that grain sizes satisfy normal distribution. addition, performance hydrocarbon gas injection is comprehensively evaluated. It found larger aspect ratio (ratio throat size) single non-flowing results greater asymmetry concentration curve. As for models, coefficients increase expansion domain. Both variable th fluid mixture contribute curve model. A negative correlation established between sorting size power-law coefficients. slug injection, injected along longitudinal direction does not effectively influence length mixing zone given medium fluids, though Peclet number greatly affect distribution zone.
